Pastel pink clouds and pale blue water.
Movement and motion over coastline rocks.
And in the moody dawn landscape,
The seashore shimmers awaiting the arrival of someone to witness her beauty.
Lucky me!

Hi moderntheologian! Sorry for the delay in answering; I couldn’t find an email for you so I’ll answer here: Sunrise/Sunsets are difficult because most times one waits and shoots directly into the sun which causes flair. The f/stop difference between the hot sun and the shadowed foreground is always a challenge. One suggestion is to shoot HDR (some smart phones offer this choice in the ‘mode’ section). No HDR? I sometimes meter the foreground or middle tones of the scene. I find my most successful shots with the best color are taken just before the sun rises and just after the sun sets. Because the light is dim at this time, you’ll need to use a tripod or bean bag to steady the camera & avoid soft images. My other suggestion is to compose like an artist using the rule of 3rds & other techniques. Check out this link on the subject: http://photoinf.com/Golden_Mean/Eugene_Ilchenko/GoldenSection.html Good luck and please let me know if this helps in your work :-)

This makes me think about alternative color treatments. I usually go for more saturated, but this is nice.

Thanks Ron! On this particular day the overall scene was unusually pastel so I went with it :-)
