CHILDREN OF LAOS Image Art & Fine Art Photography by Jo Ann Tomaselli

This image was taken in a small village in Laos.
Poverty was evident in this childs’ filthy clothing and unwashed face but her eyes… her eyes glittered with shyness, trust & curiosity.
Fueled by a brilliance from the depths of her tiny soul, she was the light of my world the moment we met.

There is something remarkable about this color portrait by photographer Jo Ann Tomaselli. I’m sure you have heard the phrase ” the eyes are the window to the soul “. However, with this simple moment you can feel these souls and these faces pull at your heartstring … Love. I have traveled may places with my cameras, and have noticed that in many countries where you find poverty the people have deep inside a sense of peace. When I come back to the USA, a nation of freedom and prosperity, you can see on the faces of many American’s how it seems like we carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. Here is a moment of encouragement to not worry, but to keep life simple.
God chose you in Him … before the world began … to be full of Love.
Nice work, Jo Ann, and thank you for your dedication to photography , story, and sharing with all humanity.

Thank you Frank for your most generous comments on my portrait work. Your astute observation of the connection to love & peace in the face of poverty is one we, in the ‘civilized’ world should all take note of. I have a dear friend who says “the more you have, the more you have to take care of.” I suppose for the many with so little, that leaves lots of time to care for the stuff of the heart & soul ~ may we all one day be so lucky!
