Bird Nest 2
JO ANN TOMASELLI ~ FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY
It’s always sad when something goes amiss in nature.
When my sister presented me with this birds nest that had fallen out of a tree in her yard with an intact, perfectly formed blue egg. It was a bit sad to see but then I thought a fitting tribute would be to photograph this beautiful piece of architecture!
A wild bird builds its nest with sticks and other materials woven into an object of amazing complexity. Once the eggs are laid in the spring, the incubation time varies from species to species but it generally takes most songbirds two weeks to incubate their young and another two weeks before the young are ready to leave the nest.
I am a North Carolina based Fine Art Photographer specializing in Landscape, Nature and Travel Photography. Numerous images in my portfolio are held in private collections, exhibited in museums and galleries, published in both print & online and have won various awards.

We can learn a lot about life from birds. Your article, Jo Ann, reminds me of this quote: “Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark.” ― Rabindranath Tagore

A beautiful tribute. I watch the hummingbirds build their nests, spy on the eggs, and peep in on the babies. It is so sad when the cycle doesn’t end as hoped…
