Complete Portfolio @ JO ANN TOMASELLI ~ FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY

The variety of cloud patterns and the colors painted in the sky at sunrise and sunset are a gift from the Universe every single day! Today the sunrise was pastel yellow, divided by a brown marsh.
Many people know that the Sun ‘rises in the east and sets in the west’. However, the Sun only rises due east and sets due west on 2 days of the year – the spring and fall equinoxes.

Most ancient cultures tracked these rising and settings points with great detail. If they had mountains along the horizon, a jagged point could be remembered. Without a suitably interesting horizon, standing stones or poles could serve this purpose.

Many of the sunrise images in my portfolio are taken from my backyard and I too mark the movement of the sun along the horizon on a daily basis.
